Blizzard Entertainment has officially unveiled World of Warcraft: Midnight, the next chapter in the Worldsoul Saga™, during Gamescom 2025. This highly anticipated expansion launches in 2026, inviting players back to some of Azeroth’s most iconic lands.

Midnight: A Dark Campaign in Quel’Thalas
Following the desperate alliance with Xal’atath in The War Within™, Azeroth’s heroes find themselves betrayed and vulnerable. Now, Xal’atath turns her gaze toward one of Azeroth’s brightest beacons: the Sunwell. In Midnight, players will return to Quel’Thalas, the ancestral home of the Blood Elves, to defend it from the encroaching Void.
The expansion features:
- A fully rebuilt Eversong Woods and Silvermoon City as the central hub.
- New zones, including the jungles of Zul’Aman, the subterranean depths of Harandar, and the swirling chaos of the Voidstorm, where Xal’atath’s campaign takes root.

New Midnight Allies: The Haranir
For the first time, players will meet and recruit the Haranir, an ancient, enigmatic race predating many of Azeroth’s oldest peoples. Available as a new allied race, Haranir characters can become Warriors, Rogues, Priests, Druids, Hunters, Warlocks, Monks, or Shamans.

Class Expansions and the Void’s Power
One of the most exciting announcements is the long-awaited third Demon Hunter specialization: the Devourer. Unlike other specs fueled by Fel energy, Devourers embrace the Void, combining ranged combat with the Demon Hunter’s trademark agility. In addition, Void Elves will finally join the ranks of the Illidari, expanding player options for this iconic class.

New Gameplay Features
Blizzard is packing Midnight with fresh gameplay experiences that players have requested for years:
- Prey System – An opt-in hunting feature that lets you stalk (or be stalked by) powerful targets while questing, gathering, or exploring. With Normal, Hard, and Nightmare modes, the higher the risk, the greater the rewards.
- Player Housing – After two decades, World of Warcraft finally introduces housing. Midnight owners will have access to two homes (one for Horde, one for Alliance) and a suite of starting décor. Housing ties into deep social systems, encouraging creativity and expression while rewarding players with décor items for simply playing the game.
- Refreshed Onboarding – New players will begin with an updated leveling flow that reworks Exile’s Reach and Dragonflight™ as the introductory experience. Returning players can choose a streamlined reintroduction in the Arathi Highlands before jumping back into the expansion content.

Level Cap and Progression
Midnight raises the level cap to 90, giving adventurers more ground to cover in their defense against Xal’atath and the Void. With zones both familiar and new, players will rediscover beloved regions while pushing deeper into Azeroth’s mysteries.

A New Era for Azeroth
Between its sweeping storylines, long-awaited housing system, and bold new gameplay innovations, World of Warcraft: Midnight signals one of the most ambitious expansions in the franchise’s history. For veterans and newcomers alike, Azeroth is about to feel more alive—and more threatened—than ever before.
World of Warcraft: Midnight launches in 2026 on PC and Mac.
