Analyzing Moral Dilemmas

In the Lifeboat:  I think that I would do what is best for others, and have to throw people overboard. I would base it on children, women, elderly, and then if there was any room left at all. Obviously, I would make sure a baby went before someone older, because with how many people would die that day the babies and children and women would be needed to help repopulate the world to keep our numbers up. I would go by age but making sure that an adult went with them.

The adult would have to be healthy and capable of keeping an eye on the children. I would definitely say women and children would get priority. It is normal for when a ship goes down to go with women, children, and elderly first. Men should always go last in a gentlemanly fashion, allowing their wives and children passage to safety anyways. I have always believed that women and children should be held at priority. The principles I base this on “when the Titanic went down, women and children were the first attempts to be saved” as is any other huge wrecks.

In the whistle-blower: I would definitely go public, even though I am the sole provider in my household I would not be going to bed with a guilty conscience for doing the right thing. It might be hard but I would be able to find another job anyhow. But I would not want children or people to die because of contamination regardless of how the taken care of my boss would think it is. There might still be some of that contaminated item out there and it would need to be recalled fast.

The principles I based this particular decision on is the mother of 3 as well as a pet. I would not want someone hiding something like this. Our priority is to protect those near us and close to us, our spouses, our children, and even the beloved pets.  It would only be right that the person came out to the public risking their job. I know that I would be overjoyed to know that this person just may have saved me and my family.

In the Mad Bomber:  I would not want the legal case to be in jeopardy. I would contact my superior to let him know what the mad bomber had said to me and then bring this guy down to the police station as far as I can. I would think they might be able to get him to speak.  Of course, he would have the option to call an attorney as his Miranda Rights would state.

I know that if I torture him to get him to answer the question of where the bomb is then the legal case might be thrown out of the window and totally forgotten, which something I do not want is. I would rather him be charged and left to rot in jail instead of walking free. As for my job, none of that would matter anyways it is the people who are most important but this guy might even be lying about the fact he has the bombs set to go off anyways. My principle on this subject is based on the rights and the laws of the American citizens. They would have a right and trust in the laws to know that we caught this guy.
