My group has chosen the topic of how video games affect children. Our target audience would be parents and I would say that video game companies might also end up taking a look as well so that they might be able to fix some of the issues and put out some more kid-friendly games too without taking away the non-kid friendly games. The goals of the website would be to educate parents and help them understand what video games can do to their children and how they can be sure their children will not be affected by video games in a negative manner. I would say that our competitors would be

each one of these websites deals with the same thing, trying to educate parents on how video games affect children. The last one of these sites is probably the best because it goes into grave details. I would say if we wanted to compete we would have to better then that last site.

The keyword list that we could use would be Video Games and we could also use children. It would be hard for me to think up keyword list for our site because what comes to mind would be how video games affect children, but seeing as “how” is generally a commonly used term it would show up in a lot of searches. I would personally need more thoughts on other keywords other than children, video games, parents.

As for driving traffic to the page, I would say we could advertise the site or contact local newspapers to see if they would put an article in their paper about our site with a link to it. There could be multiple ways to do so. Maybe even contact huge name companies, like Blizzard entertainment and inform them of our site since they have multiple parents and children playing their games and are adamant about people not getting addicted and people playing their games in moderation, so maybe they would also be willing to advertise our site as well.

I would love to incorporate making sure that we use the proper keywords and making sure that our website has the proper usability whether the person has a mac or a pc, whether that person uses Internet Explorer, Firefox, or even safari. Because this is important so that everyone can enjoy the information on the website. I feel that the most important thing is that we have the information in a readable manner for the parents.
